Initially, lawns were not used to showcase appealing visuals. Instead, they were used to feed their cattle. But when people who had no cattle or domestic animals which would eat the grass shifted to their new houses, the grasses grew irregularly, which cast a haunted look onto their houses. So people would manually cut the outgrown grasses with grass cutters. Or hire people who are specialized in cutting grass and maintaining their garden.

Maintaining the garden with traditional grass cutters is a tedious process. This was the case until a British engineer came up with an innovative invention that would revolutionize the gardening process forever.

Edwin Beard Budding is an engineer from Gloucestershire, England, was visiting a cloth mill where they used a napping machine to give the textiles a finished soft look. Edwin has read about this equipment before because he is an engineer. But he hasn’t seen any napping machine in person.

After seeing this machine, he came up with the idea of applying this technology to cut the excessive grown grass in the garden. He brought this wonderful idea to his fellow mate John Ferrabee who is also a renowned and skilled engineer. They both started working on inventing one of the best inventions in the whole history.

They have successfully developed a working prototype of the lawnmower in 1830. Without wasting any time, they have patented their invention, knowing that it will become one of the top inventions ever made.

Although lawnmower was invented by two British engineers in 1830, they have evolved much over these two centuries. The initial lawnmower was huge and in size of the present riding lawn mowers. It required at least two persons to push and cut the grass.

Due to technological advancements, lawnmowers come in different sizes for different uses. Now, anyone can easily use these lawnmowers with ease. Riding lawn mowers which look like a mini version of a golf cart that lets its users have a ride while cutting the grass in their garden.

People back in the 17th century were using sheep and cows to maintain their gardens. But now, lawnmowers powered by artificial intelligence (robots) are used to maintain the appealing look of the garden. It also helps to keep unwanted insects and pests at bay.
